Scott Pilgrim VS the World

Director: Edgar Wright
Cast: Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Kieran Culkin, and etc.
Genre: Comedy

A very funny movie. Two thumbs up! I laughed so hard that almost popped my eyes out. Personally I believe it is one the most unique movies I've seen so far in 2010. The plot is great, the message is great, the visuals are great, and the soundtracks are perfect for the movie. Evidently the movie is a motion picture version of the comic book-certainly I have never read the comic. Nevertheless, nothing bothered me. The cast was great, most of them you have seen in different movies, but I assure they did their roles very very good.
One important things is that some people may not enjoy or get the jokes of the movie. Specially individualswho are very far from computer gaming or very stubborn-serious realists will not enjoy this movie. Why? Watch the movie and you will know.
Finally, it is the best summer comedy I've seen. Better than The other guys! So go for it.

The other guys

Director: Adam McKay
Cast: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes, Steve Coogan, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, and etc.
Genre: Comedy

I laughed a lot, so did my Ms. Company. An entertaining movie for everybody. Lately, I think will Ferrell is one of the best comedy actors on the market. He does pretty good work, and he did an excellent job in The Other Guys. About Mark I would not say the same, I believe he is more action figure than a comedian! Samuel and Dwayne, well they had their short time in the movie. I guess their last action in the movie was excessively bro-mantic and idiotic, but very funny, which is more important in the comedy movie.

Plot. Eh, a simple plot. There is no big twists and surprises, quite straight-forward funny story.
It is a good entertaining movie, but you don't want to miss anything important, in order to watch this movie. A thumb up!

Inception

Director: Christopher Nolan
Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe, Cillian Murphy, Marion Cotillard, and etc.
Year: 2010

I am giving a BIG 5 star to Inception (9.1 point out of 10). It is absolutely one of the best movies of 2010, and I am really hoping that the movie will get at least a couple of Academy awards (not to mention for how many it will be nominated). Though who knows, those big shots, who decide who wins and who don't, have a different type of brain structure than ordinary viewers like me. As of right now if you haven't seen it yet, then bloody go for it!!! What are you waiting for? An invitation?

There are few things I would like to highlight.
First, the cast. There is a very good level of chemistry among actors and actresses. No doubt. Moreover, our Mr. DiCaprio have done an excellent job in this movie, I believe he is the right type of actor for particularly this role (Cobb). Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Arthur), he is something, I am starting to like him very much (not bromantically). He did a really good job as a sidekick to Cobb. And of course Ellen Page, she is absolutely beautiful in all manner as an actress and as an individual. I always have a faith in Marion Cotillard, and she didn't disappoint me in Inception (big deal!). I believe, she touched me very much by her acting.
Second, the idea. Oh! The idea is big and sci-fi. The movie is about dreams and ideas, and everything happens, logically,  in the dreams. I really favored Mr. DiCaprio's line: "The idea is like a virus, very tough and spreads fast." Furthermore, the movie touches the questions like what is dream, what happens if dream becomes the reality, and etc., which are for me very interesting topics to discuss. In addition, my mere English can't actually describe what I have felt during the movie, it was something that I haven't felt for a long time.
Finally, it is a very well made movie with something you can think about later. Also, I would not mind to watch it a couple more times.

Kick-ass 2010

Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Cast: Aaron Johnson, Mark Strong, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicolas Cage, etc.

A very entertaining "R" rated movie, I enjoyed watching it. Blood and super violence, but very funny. If you don't like a bloody violent movie, then it is not for you. Obviously the film is originated from the comic book called "Kick-ass." There is nothing really talk about the plot. Like any other super-hero action movies there are bad guys and there are few good guys, thus they fight until someone get kicked his/her butt. Straight-forward.

Mark Strong is just born to be a villain. His facial expression and voice are perfect for the role. I say, Mark is the one of the best villains in movie history. Eh, Nicolas Cage. A hard working actor who's never getting tired of acting, I guess. He did his stuff, nothing more. Sometimes his funny, but mostly not. I believe, he is just not that type of actor who suits to comedy roles.

In the end, if you need to kill some time, Kick-ass would be the best choice for now. But then probably you already watched it, so why bother...hehehe...

Unthinkable

Directed by: Gregor Jordan
Cast: Michael Sheen, Samuel L Jackson, Carrie-Ann Moss

An American citizen, a former military personnel, claims that he put three nuclear bombs in three American cities. Thus, USA's top intelligence and anti-terrorist agencies take actions to recover information in order to find those bombs (pretty logical). The terrorist allows himself to be caught, so he can face his "oppressor" face-to-face. Samuel L Jackson played as an agent 'H' who specializes in torturing captives. And the story goes on. As far as I understand, the film tried to show how far people and government can go to succeed in what they believe is right. But the government is more interested in protecting the government's Middle Eastern policy. Also, there are many scenes when both the terrorist and his torturer plays mind games against each other.

Samuel L Jackson is one of my favorite African-american actors. I guess everyone will agree with me that he does his job pretty good, but with out much flavor. So he was as usual in this movie. Carrie-Ann Moss played as a FBI agent with high standards of morale and ethics. She was pretty good, though sometimes she looked unbelievable cheesy. I must applause to Michael Sheen-the terrorist. He was absolutely wonderful and did an extra-ordinary job in this movie. Even at some point I thought I  saw his face on TV that he is wanted or something (lol), but you know he is very alike with Tony Blair a former Prime minister of the Great Britain.

In summary, I recommend to all people except with heart conditions and children (there are many gruesome scenes). Although the plot and story is not particularly unique, the final twist is quite interesting.

The losers

Directed by: Sylvain White
Cast: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, and etc.

Three words: rubbish, Zoe, and rubbish. I believe a lot of people put tones of effort to create The Losers, but I am sorry this movie is a bummer. There is absolutely nothing to understand or feel about, everything is too simple. Of course there are explosions, fights, cool techs and stuff like that, but still a bummer. If there is absolutely nothing to do, maybe The Losers can be your third option, other wise I don't recommend it.

How to train your dragon

Directed by: Christopher Sanders, Dean DeBlois
Cast: Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, TJ Miller, and etc.

Well this is different thing. I absolutely enjoyed watching this animation, although, I watched it on my laptop. Really, it's fun, cute, and interesting. The storyline is not complicated, BUT the idea behind the story is great. We people have lots of misunderstanding about different things. Sometimes we are so stubborn that we even forget to how express your feelings and needs. So in this animation our main character tries to learn more about the dragons that made them suffer (not "super" suffering you know, its still a kids movie). Hence, our main boy discovers astonishing facts about dragons, which will change his and his people's lives, moreover lives of all dragons.
In the end, if you haven't seen it yet, then go for it. Grab a snack and something to drink, and enjoy the evening with your beloved people.

Robin Hood

Directed by: Ridley Scott
Cast: Russel Crowe, Kate Blanchett, Max von Sydow, Mark Strong, and etc.

There are many movies about Robin Hood and many actors from all generations played as Robin Hood (Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, and Arnold Schwarzenegger-just kidding). Doesn't matter who portrayed Robin, this legendary figure always will be the "ultimate" good guy, a people's hope in times of despair, and a romantic hero. Ridley's Robin Hood is not an exception, but there are few notable differences. Firstly, Russel Crowe and Kate Blanchett. Both of them are great actors and they did a good job (at least in my opinion). Secondly, the story line is quite different than other Robin Hood movies.
Some movie critics are disappointed about Russel's English accent. After all Robin Hood is an English man. But for all other viewers like me (non-native english speakers) everything was okey!!! Even more than okey, it was a wonderful experience to watch the other part of the legend. In addition, Ridley Scott really knows how to direct an epic battle scene. In my opinion, Robin Hood is surely a must watch movie 2010.

Clash of the Titans (2010)

Directed by: Louis Leterrier
Cast: Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, and etc.

Clash of Titans. Perseus the demigod is helpless to save his mortal family from Hades. With nothing to lose, except his life of course, Perseus volunteers to lead a lethal mission to defeat Hades before he destroys everything around and seizes power from Zeus. The movie is visually stunning, non-stop action, and nothing to understand or think about. A romantic and at the same time thrilling experience.

One of the big minuses is that actions and events swoosh so fast, you barely keep up with the idea. Otherwise, a very entertaining movie! Liked it! Recommended for those people who likes Greek mythology, magic, and classic romance!

Brothers (2009)

Directed by: Jim Sheridan
Starring: Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman

A war in Afghanistan. U.S Marine Captain is embarking on his 4th tour of duty. After while, Captain is presumed dead, and his brother tries to help his brother's family.
I believe, the movie really shows how the war can psychologically traumatic and devastating. Also, the reality of the war is not about the honor or bravery, it is all about survival.

The Road (2009)

Directed by: John Hillcoat

A post-apocalyptic world. A father and his son are trying to survive in inhumane world with full of horror. The movie shows how fragile is people's sanity in the worst conditions. Only true father's love to his son keeps a little hope in their hearts. A truly touching experience.

"The Lives of others" was an extra-ordinary movie. I really enjoyed it, and I would give A-. A splendid experience. in addition, it wasn't Hollywood all-action-effect based story telling, moreover it made you think about different aspects of our surroundings. A must watch!
